Born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt the city that was once the cultural capital of the world, and still the city of memories in my heart. I spent 14 years in Saint Mark College, a French Catholic school that belongs to the brotherhood order of “De la Salle”, where I learned that accepting the other regardless of any differences, and that hard work and ethics is what determines the value of an individual.

I earned my Bachelor degree from the Arab academy of sciences, technology and maritime transport, majoring in accounting and finance after 4 years of study, and I got my first job shortly in one of the big 4 accounting firms worldwide, this is when my career in accounting truly began.

As a financial statements auditor, I learned many skills such as financial statements reading, preparation, audit, accounting information systems, and many other soft and hard skills. But the question that kept me awake in the night was how can I deliver value to my client? How can I show my client the value from accounting and audit service?

After 5 years of work in Egypt, I traveled to the US seeking new opportunities and exposure to new markets, marking one of the major challenges that I faced and overcame. I am currently working as the accounting and bookkeeping manager at an accounting firm located in NYC, serving small and mid size clients, helping them grow their business through more organized accounting systems and data driven decision making.

During that time, I worked with a culturally diverse team of around 10 members, managing deliverables process and clients relationship. I was able to make the accounting and bookkeeping department the most profitable even during COVID-19 time.

Although we are passing through a time of recession, this challenge only fuels my desire to help small and mid size businesses sustain and keep losses at minimum. I am also open to any accounting related event to get to know more people who can speak my language in a “win-win” learn and grow mindset.
